Welcome

The Northern Utah Hispanic Health Coalition was established in 2003 in response to the increasing need for Hispanic/Latino community outreach addressing substance abuse prevention.  With a mission to promote awareness and improve the health of the Hispanic community in Cache Valley, the coalition has evolved throughout the years to address other community concerns including impaired driving, seat belt and car seat use, bicycle and pedestrian safety, tobacco control and prevention, chronic illness, and more. The goals of the Northern Utah Hispanic Health Coalition are to establish partnerships among community agencies, identify and assess health needs, inform and educate families, and influence the development and implementation of public policies. The coalition is committed to the health and safety of Hispanics in the community and strives to ensure that these individuals are aware of and utilize the resources and services available to them. This commitment has enabled the coalition to develop appropriate intervention tools and to implement effective strategies to enhance the overall well-being of Hispanics. Every year during the month of September the coalition organizes a health fair as an opportunity to enhance community involvement, provide free resources and information, and link people to services. This annual event has been a successful way for the coalition and other partners to reach out to the community and is one that is awaited for with great anticipation.

The coalition is led and funded by the Bear River Health Department and is comprised of more than 20 organizations that represent all sectors of the community including local government, schools, law enforcement, social service agencies, public relations, and others. Members serve on a voluntary basis and meet bimonthly.
